Description

Why do documentaries seem like the black sheep of the film world with many more watching fictional films than films that are actually about something in real-life? Do we prefer escaping into another world that we don’t know because reality can be too hard?

Whatever the case, it feels like a shame because sometimes truth can be stranger than fiction. So, here’s part one to an ongoing list of great documentaries that I want to recommend because boy do some of the documentaries that I’ve seen really live up to that notion.

These include everything from serial killer documentaries, true crime documentaries, nature documentaries, music documentaries, history documentaries, film documentaries, war documentaries, sports documentaries, science documentaries and even documentaries that you can watch on YouTube for free.

I've made a note of which documentaries you can watch on YouTube below, otherwise, most of them are also available to watch on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Who Am I? (Part Two) – Present Music

A documentary film is a nonfictional motion picture intended to document reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction, education, or maintaining a historical record. "Documentary" has been described as a "filmmaking practice, a cinematic tradition, and mode of audience reception" that is continually evolving and is without clear boundaries. Documentary films were originally called "actuality" films and were only a minute or less in length.
