Say hello to the House of Gutemele, a Dogon house In Mali which is a fully ventilated house from top to bottom. The Gutemele Dogon House is a Mudhif house and is a traditional reed house made by Madan people in the swamp with only traditional materials. The primary materials for this house are mud, steaks, and traditional artifacts from the local traditional stores. This house represents the full embodiment of the traditions of the Malian people and draws a lot of attention internationally. With its excessive ventilation, it stays as one of the most bizarre houses in Africa.
6. The Elephant House, Nigeria
There isn’t much that is known about this ‘Elephant House’ in Lagos, but we know there’s another Elephant House located in Marina, Lagos that has 17 floors and looks nothing like this. The one that made it into this video is quite a jaw dropper. The most topical subject that always comes around this building is the so-called ‘Ugly Building Law,’ which mandates the owner of the building to pay an ‘Ugly Tax;’ depending on how high their building rates on a scale of 1 to 1,000 for ugliness. The building was constructed with cement and has a huge part of the building designed like an elephant. The structure has many windows and is not painted which really gives it that elephant color. The structure is an attraction as many people visit and passer bys just stare at it as they pass by. No matter how many times you see it, it’s just mind blowing to imagine someone living in the building.
