There were more than 100 battles fought in World War I. The war started on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918, lasting for four years. There were over nine million combatants and seven million civilians directly or indirectly involved. World War I had some of the bloodiest battles that resulted in over 17 million casualties and 20 million wounded.
