Over the years, as the popularity of these games have grown, so has the number of people who want to rate them in the top 10 board games of all time. But there are so many great games out there that it can be hard to choose. And even harder to rank them! That's why I took a look at all the games, not just the top ones. I'll share what I learned along the way.

First of all, think whether this is a game you would enjoy spending time with. Some games are more complicated than others. For example, a game like Monopoly will give you time and energy, but as you gain more points it gets harder to get into the first house. On the other hand, a simple game such as Scrabble could easily be played with just a pen and paper. So make sure the type of game you're playing is one you'll enjoy spending time on.

Now that we've established that, let's take a look at some lists of the top ten best.
#1. Monopoly.
Since 1935, a game of buying property, Monopoly, has been creating property titans. In the cards game, players take risks and rely on luck while buying and selling properties and avoiding being thrown in jail. In case you have the funds, players are allowed to purchase available properties. By charging rent on any of the spaces you own, you can make money through the game. To be able to win the game, you must bankrupt your opponents, which can take some time. The idea is to get enough property on the identical region of the board that you create a monopoly and eventually the other players won't be able to afford to pay your rent anymore.

Following some initial exploratory firing, you will probably begin to figure out the location of your opponent's ships and begin to deal the deadly blows. It is a struggle on the high seas!

Napoleon's version of capture the flag is Stratego. Each player arranges their 40 game pieces in whatever order they prefer within this two-person game of military tactics. A successful set-up involves several layers of strategy, which is why this game is as fun for both adults and kids. Once all of the pieces have been arranged, game play starts as you make your way into enemy territory in an effort to locate your opponent's flag. Watch out for bombs planted by the enemy to throw you off course and spy crews on the enemy's recon team. The player to successfully catch the opposing army's flag wins.
