The Coronavirus pandemic has led to a slew of theories across the world. Some attempt to explain its origins and the possibility of it being created. These are all conspiracy theories.
And they’re nothing new.
Conspiracy theories have been around for as long humankind and as long as we’re alive, they’ll keep popping up. Unlike in the past, they’re propagated on a larger scale today due to the availability of digital media.

#10 Big Pharma
If you’ve ever spent your time on the interwebs at least you’ve heard of Big Pharma, a term referring to large drug corporations that seemingly have a sinister motive against the general population. You know, like thinking of ways to keep us sick so that they can sell us drugs and in turn keep turning a profit.
For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, some skeptics believe that there is a cure or a vaccine already but Big Pharma is sitting tight on it waiting for the best moment to avail it.
Most vocal advocates of such narratives are the natural living fanatics who believe every other health problem can be vanquished by simply staying away from processed products. They also believe in natural remedies to treat some common ailments instead of buying drugs off the pharmacy shelves.
These natural remedies, according to them, are being hidden from the public by the drug industry in conjunction with medical practitioners.
Vaccines in particular have been the subject of conspiracy theories over the years with some linking them to autism.
#9 The 1969 Moon Landing was Fake
The Apollo 11 was the first crewed mission to touch down on the moon’s surface in 1969. Arguably, it presented a big leap forward in our understanding of the moon and outer space in general. Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin made history as the first people to ever land on the moon.
Being such a big moment, the event was broadcasted live in about 33 countries with at least 25 million people viewing it in the US alone.
With such profound interest, you’d think there was no room for doubts about the moon landing happening. But as time went by, skeptics came out terming the whole Apollo 11 mission and the subsequent ones as a hoax intentionally engineered by NASA for various reasons.
First, there was the space race which was essentially a contest between the United States and the Soviet Union to see who made more contributions to the exploration of outer space. Apparently, the US fabricated the whole moon landing thing to stay ahead of the game.
Secondly, conspiracy believers claim the whole point of faking the landing was for NASA to continue getting funding. And finally, a more recent theory is that the Apollo 11 mission was all faked to distract the public from the Vietnam War that was at its peak during that time.
#8 Reptilian People Rule the World
This is probably enough proof that people can believe anything thrown at them.
The conspiracy theory goes that the world is currently run by reptilian humanoids that live in underground basements around the globe.
This theory was fronted by former English footballer and sports journalist David Icke. According to him, the earth has been taken hostage by a race he calls the Archons who’ve created genetically modified humans who run everything.
The Babylonian Brotherhood, as Icke refers to the modified humans, is said to manipulate the various happenings here on earth so that the human race is in a state of constant fear which is negative energy. The reptilian humanoids are able to survive by ingesting this energy.
The humanoids include celebrities, corporate execs, and prominent leaders. Queen Elizabeth, George W. Bush, and the Clintons are some of these people.
David Icke further claims that the Babylonian Brotherhood’s mission is to push humanity towards a single-government world where freedom of speech is a thing of the past.

ADS is one of the most prominent diseases in human history. Though its severity has been greatly reduced by antiretroviral therapy, it still remains without a cure or vaccine.
It is believed that the -causing virus might have originated from chimpanzees in west-central Africa, specifically in Congo and Cameroon. The virus is said to have been transmitted to human hosts through bushmeat activities.
But skeptics are wary of this theory and believe there is more to the AIS story than medical experts would wish to admit.
