1. Medial geniculate body is a collection of grey matter & the part of meta-thalamus
2. It is situated below the posterior part of the thalamus & functionally related with it.

3.three nuclei : medial , ventral and dorsal nuclei : histology
4.three nuclei : medial , ventral and dorsal nuclei : afferent fibres

5. three nuclei : medial , ventral and dorsal nuclei : efferent fibres
6. three nuclei : medial , ventral and dorsal nuclei : tonotropic representation

7. Afferent fibres of medial geniculate body They come from Lateral lemniscus (part of auditory pathway ) Inferior colliculus of midbrain

8. Medial geniculate body receives sensory information from cochlear nuclei of both sides and
from auditory area of cerebral cortex



9. Efferent fibres of medial geniculate body They go to following areas Through auditory radiation and sub-lentiform part of internal capsule to reach the primary auditory area (area 41,42)

10.It is relay station on the auditory pathway
