Top 10 places to visit in Tokyo, Japan
10. Book a stay at the Ritz Carlton located in the heart of the downtown Roppongi area in Tokyo's tallest building, The hotel lobby, piano bar, and restaurants are located on the 45th floor The views are breathtaking and you will be able to glimpse Tokyo’s busy streets and magnificent skyline. As per most Ritz Carlton hotels across the world, my room was spectacular, comfortable and lacked for nothing.
9. National Museum of Nature and Science
Located in Tokyo's Ueno Park, the superb National Museum of Nature and Science, and is one of the country's oldest museums. The museum houses a vast collection of materials related to natural history and science, including many fascinating interactive displays on space development, nuclear energy, and transportation, allowing visitors a unique insight into the latest scientific and technological advances.
8.Shiba Tofuya Ukai & Tokyo Tower
This restaurant is situated in the same park as Tokyo Tower. The complex is in a traditional Japanese courtyard with koi ponds. The garden is a classic example of pristine Japanese landscaping and the servers all wear traditional dress while sitting in the garden. You can admire the beautiful architecture of Tokyo tower. The food is divine!
7. Gonpachi, “Gonpachi” resembles a traditional Japanese-style warehouse. Inside the restaurant, you feel like being on the set for “Kill Bill” with something to suit every taste. They have a third “secret” floor. If you climb the stairs to “SUSHI Gonpachi Nishi Azabu”, you find a sushi bar with counter seating and a sushi chef showing off his techniques. I was thrilled and highly recommended this place.
6. Shibuya Crossing is one of the busiest, colorful, iconic, and most famous intersections in the world - 2.4 million people crossing each day!! When it is time for pedestrians to cross, hundreds of people come from every direction. I also visited at night, the intersection is a crazy sort of controlled chaos. Some girls dressed in Geisha costumes grabbed me for a picture during my crossing. Here you can enter to Shibuya 109, a big shiny mall with more than 100 boutiques, for a look at the latest in disposable fashion or duck back into Shibuya Station and down to the bustling Tokyu Food Show for an elegant array of gourmet eats
5. Shibuya Nonbei Yokocho is a beautiful bar with an inviting ambiance, great snacks, and even better cocktails. Located in the narrow, lantern-lit alleyways & drinking district lined with small izakaya pubs & restaurants you will find this place off the beaten path.
4. Hal Yamashita Japanese restaurant
I enjoyed a sumptuous brunch at Hal Yamashita Japanese restaurant. The kitchen is in the middle of the room so that you can see all the action taking place. The chef is extremely friendly and happy to speak with you. Everything was freshly prepared. Try the organic shiitake soup with rice - delicious.
3. Old Temple Sensoji is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. It is one of Tokyo's most colorful, popular and oldest temples. It also features Tokyo’s biggest souvenir market, such as yukata and folding fans; various traditional local snacks from the Asakusa area are sold along the Nakamise. The shopping street has a history of several centuries.
2. Ueno Park is the center of Tokyo’s old downtown area and where one of the biggest parks in Tokyo is located. The Park has a lot of attractive facilities including museums, a zoo, historical monuments and rich nature. Try to plan it during the cherry blossom season which is the most popular time.
1. Tokyo Central Station is an imposing brick building in the Marunouchi business district just east of the Imperial Palace. Tokyo Station serves numerous lines, most notably as the terminal station for several bullet train lines. From here you can also get to magnificent Mount Fuji or iconic Kyoto. Flying out from Narita international airport but just as a tip maybe you should consider Haneda which is more convenient and closer to Tokyo.
