Here are the top 10 things i wish i had known before deciding to become an actress.
1) It's called show business for a reason.
Acting for a living is a business. I wish I had worried less about whether it was an art or a craft and had begun researching it in a practical, unemotional manner. My actor pal Nick says, “How one handles their business—relationships with agents, managers, producers, and directors—is crucial. Business sense and relationships matter as much as talent, beauty, luck, and opportunity.”
2) Consider the source of Information
I wish I had listened less to acting teachers and sought out advice from working actors. experience is the best teacher and i learned that the hard way.
3) Always overprepare.
every job is important, dont minimize anything because that big break might come from soething you considered as small.
4) Casting directors don't forget.
the things you do on a producers set or during an audition matters. they will not forget the good work you put in and most especially will definitely not forget the mistakes you ake. Given that everyone knows everyone in the acting industry, the time your big break comes, someone you hurt in the past might come at that time and hurt your careers.
5) Silence is a virtue. you must not reply every situation on set. sometimes just take it home and talk it with faily and friends and see how relief you will feel.
6) Relax; it's not brain surgery.
when you put too much pressure on yourself,it makes you to do too much and end up ruining your chances at auditions.
7) you will get famous before you get money. so many actors fake it till they make it, so dont believe everything you see on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok. most of it is fake
8) connection, connection and connection. like Donald Trump puts it, its all about who you know so you should know that the right people will take you to the right height of your career.
9) Don't believe the hype. people tell alot of lies in the movie industry so you have to be extra careful whose stories you take as prophesy.
10) Be Patient, your big break will come. not everyone makes it fast even though some actors get lucky, others will have to wait for years and years before making it big time.
