Top 5 Influence-Placing Board Games

There's a lot that "influence" can mean, in and out of the context of games. In games, it generally means you're trying to own/control/or otherwise be in charge of a person, area of the map, etc. It's is fascinating mechanic that can be implemented in a lot of ways!

For me, placing influence in a board game means that you're spending some kind of resource to vie for control of a particular card, character, country, region, etc. Most importantly, it means that you'll be getting something in exchange for said influence. More control of what's happening, better odds on rolls, things of that nature. Even going to the extent of not being able to technically be part of the gameplay.
