In this lesson, I'm going to give you five tips for a more inspiring way of playing the blues. For that, we are going to work over a G blues backing track.
1. Intensity and build up. In order to bring your personality to the musical story, you need to go from quiet and spacey to busy and screaming.
2. Gradual spread. Explore all the notes in the fretboard, but take your time and avoid the "jumpy effect".
3. Bends. Go beyond the more traditional bends and explore things like half step bends to approach the notes in the scale.
4. "Blue tension". Use chromatic passing notes as blue notes to add tension.
5. Have a good turnaround strategy. Play some random outside stuff over the turnaround so you can emphasize the stability of the I chord when you get to it.
