This band was formed in 1984 when vocalist/guitarrist Bryan "Dexter" Holland and bassist Greg Kiesel decided to go as 'Manic Subsidal'. In 1985 guitarrist Kevin 'Noodle' Wasserman joined and the band changed their name to 'The Offspring'. In 1987 Ron Welty replaced then drummer James Lilja and completed the line-up. The group released their first studio album 'The Offspring' in 1989 and their 2nd lp 'Ignition' in 1992. In 1994 their 3rd album 'Smash' became a worldwide sensation, breaking the records for units sold by an independent label with over 16 millions. It has since been certified 6x platinum in the USA, 6x platinum in Canada and 4x platinum in Australia. It peaked at #4 in the USA and topped the Australian album charts plus reached Top 5 in countries like Germany, Canada, Sweden and the Netherlands just to name a few. The single 'Self Esteem' topped the Swedish Single Charts and reached the Top 5 in Germany and Top 10 in Australia among other charts.

In 1997 the group released their next album 'Ixnay on the Hombre' which reached the Top 3 in Australia, Canada and New Zealand and the Top 10 in the USA and Sweden. It has been certified double platinum in Australia and Canada. In 1998 the band released 'Americana' as their next studio album. It topped the Australian, Swedish and New Zealandian charts and peaked at #2 in the USA, #3 in Canada, #5 in Germany and #10 in the UK. It has been certified 8x platinum Canada, 5x platinum in the USA and Australia, 4x platinum in New Zealand and double platinum in Sweden among other places. The Single 'Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)' topped the Single Charts in the UK, Sweden and Australia.

In 2000 the group released their 6th studio album 'Conspiracy of One' and reached Top 5 in Australia and Canada and Top 10 in Germany, Sweden and the USA. It also peaked at #12 in the UK and has been certified double platinum in Australia and Canada. In 2003 drummer Ron Welty left the group and was replaced a year later by Atom Willard. The group released their next studio album 'Splinter' in 2003 but only reached Top 30 rankings in the album charts across the world.
After a Greatest Hit album in 2005 the group released their next album 'Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace' in 2008, which peaked at #3 in Australia, #4 in Canada and #10 in the USA. Drummer Willard had left for 'Angels and Airwaves' and was replaced the year before by Pete Parada. For the album though it was Josh Freese who handled drum duties as he did with 'Splinter'. In 2012 the group released their last album so far 'Days Go By' which reached Top 10 in Australia, Canada and Germany.
