Description
Three people, including a loco pilot and his assistant, were killed when two goods trains of top electricity generator NTPC collided in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh early on Sunday, said police.
The accident took place near Waidhan, the administrative headquarters of Singrauli district which is 780 kilometres northeast of state capital of Bhopal.
Loco pilot Rasheed Ahmad, a resident of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, assistant loco pilot Mandeep Kumar from UP’s Robertsganj and Ramlakshan, the points-man from Singrauli were killed in the accident.
Police said one of the goods trains laden with coal was on its way to NTPC in Rihand Nagar of Uttar Pradesh, while the other was coming back after unloading coal at the power generating centre.

Singrauli. Two freight trains collided fiercely in Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning. The engine of a freight train was badly damaged after the collision of both the trains. It is being told that three loco pilots are trapped inside, a rescue operation is being carried out to remove them. Relief and rescue operations may take more than 12 hours.
According to the railway administration, a freight train carrying coal from Amlori was going to NTPC Rihandnagar. The goods train going in the opposite direction collided with each other in the Sasan area of Singrauli on the MGR railway line at around 5 am. It is being told that three people are trapped in the freight train which had coal.
The engine of a freight train was badly damaged after the collision of both the trains. Loco pilots Rashid Ahmed, Mandeep Kumar, Ram Symptom Baishya were trapped inside. According to the railway officials, these three people are trapped inside the engine in critical condition.
