Thousands of people gathered around Dubai's Burj Khalifa to witness a fascinating firework and light show display to welcome in the new year on Tuesday.

The Burj Khalifa took centre stage for the Emirates' NYE countdown as the country marked the start of 2020.

Searchlights, LED screens and lasers accompanied the spellbinding fireworks display to mark the end of the decade.
