Vic premier’s coronavirus restrictions a ‘threat to democracy’
Description
IPA Director of Policy Gideon Rozner says Victoria has become “a police state” under the “authoritarian” direction of the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews.
A 500-strong Victorian police task force was created to enforce social distancing rules and the closure of non-essential businesses.
Mr Rozner says while “he supported some of these restrictions as a necessary evil,” the “latest restrictions have gone way over the top”.
“Even though strictly speaking Daniel Andrews has the legal right to be passing these restrictions without parliamentary oversight, he shouldn’t do that as a matter of proprietary,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“Daniel Andrews is out of control and has become a threat to democracy,” Mr Rozner said.
