Walking Around Kasturi Walk & Central Market In Kuala Lumpur

Central Market Kuala Lumpur is located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, built by Yap Ah Loy  (Chinese : 葉亞來甲) a Chinese Kapitan, It was founded in 1888 and originally used as a wet market.

After the market was relocated in the 80s, the iconic light blue building that used to house it was declared a centre for Malaysian arts, culture and handicrafts.

The Central Market Kuala Lumpur is arranged in a stall concept, representing the traditional market that has existed in Kuala Lumpur since the 1800s. Tourists can experience different cultures such as Chinese, Indian & Malay through the many sections that exists within the Central Market.

The Central Market Annexe, located at the back of main building, It is one of the major art spaces in Kuala Lumpur which features artworks by local artists.

Kasturi Walk is the covered walkway that is next to the Central Market.It was established in early 2011, the main entrance is a pewter giant wau bulan (a iconic of Malay kite) in the air supported by beams.

Variety of stalls selling tantalizing local snacks and exquisite souvenirs.
A popular spot with tourists, during special events Kasturi Walk organises cultural performances.

【HOW TO GET THERE】
To get there using the LRT Kelana Jaya Line and the MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line alight at the Pasar Seni station, from there it is only a 5 minutes walk to Kasturi Walk.

The KL Hop-on Hop-off Double-decker【74】sightseeing tour buses stop at the opposite of Central Market Kuala Lumpur.

The free bus service Go KL【75】Purple Line starts at Pasar Seni Bus Hub which is next to Pasar Seni station. 5 minutes walk to Central Market
