Wet'suwet'en, government reach tentative deal as new blockade launched in Montreal
Description
A proposed deal has been reached between Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs and the federal government regarding land rights, but it does not apply to the controversial Coastal GasLink pipeline in northern B.C, which is resuming construction. Sarah MacDonald reports on the reaction to the deal.
Despite hopes that the draft deal in northern B.C. could bring an end to nationwide protests and blockades, a new demonstration was set up along a commuter rail line in Montreal on Monday, in a show of solidarity with Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs' who oppose the Coastal GasLink pipeline project. Mike Armstrong reports.
