WHAT A Brilliant Sudoku!!

Today's puzzle is a really incredible new variant by Akash Jain (who constructs under the pseudonym udukos). Akash was the co-author of Tracking The Cryptid, our recent Sudoku Hunt! The rules are complex but they are well worth the effort. (If you've ever played the logic problem Nurikabe you'll find them very intuitive.) You can play it at the link below:

Rules:
Normal Sudoku rules apply. Shade cells using the following rules: do not shade cells containing digits in their top left corner (“TLC”); the digit in the cell with a number in its TLC gives the number of contiguous white cells in that area (i.e. it represents a Nurikabe clue); the number in the TLC also equals the sum of all the digits in that area; digits cannot repeat within a white area; no two different areas of white cells can share an edge (though they can touch at a point); the shaded cells are all orthogonally-connected BUT cannot occupy a 2x2 square (or larger); all the Nurikabe clues have been given. Note the inequality sign in the grid. Unlike in normal killer sudoku, the cell with the number in its TLC may not be the leftmost cell of the highest row of that white area.
