For the past decade, the Center for Early Childhood Education at Eastern Connecticut State University has been studying how different toys affect children's problem-solving, creativity, social interactions, and verbalization. Each December from 2010 through 2019, the Center announced findings about the highest-scoring toy in that year's study. This year, we looked at our findings from the past 10 years to develop a summary of the lessons learned over the course of the study. In this video, teachers whose classrooms have participated in the TIMPANI Toy Study help us describe the elements that make a great toy for preschool-aged children.
