World Bank approves emergency aid
Description
The World Bank has approved 160 billion U.S. dollars in emergency aid to fight COVID-19 over the next 15 months. The Bank has approved the first set of fast-track crisis projects. An initial 1.9 billion dollars will go to 25 countries with operations moving forward in another 40 nations. India will be the largest beneficiary with a facility for one billion dollars, followed by Pakistan with 200 million dollars in assistance. The World Bank says it will help countries purchase medical supplies, establish isolation centers, and support the most vulnerable households.
