World Bank to lower global forecast

The World Bank plans to revise downward its 2020 global growth forecast due to concerns that the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in China will harm international supply chains. That's according to World Bank president David Malpass. The World Bank last month forecast a rebound in 2020 after the easing of trade tensions between Washington and Beijing, but Malpass warned that the virus that has killed hundreds in China and shuttered businesses and borders throughout the country also poses a threat to global growth. Malpass said the lender's forecast would be lowered for at least the first part of 2020 due to the virus and threats to global supply chains.
