Yesterday we saw ten republican senators announced their plan to unveil an approximately $600 billion pandemic relief package as a counteroffer to President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus package proposal. The group calls to modify the $1,400 stimulus check provision and reduce the federal unemployment provision amount and duration. The official proposal is expected to be released today.

The group also requested to meet with President Joe Biden today for a “full exchange of views”; they will be meeting with the President today.

However Sunday, shortly after we heard from White House Economic Advisor Brian Deese that the White House was unwilling to compromise on the speed at which the bill would need to be passed due to its urgency. We also heard him say that every provision was considered necessary in the eyes of President Joe Biden.

Shortly after we also heard from Senator Bernie Sanders, the new chairman of the Senate Budget Committee who once again let us know that Democrats weren’t receptive to this new proposal and were prepared to pass the $1.9 trillion stimulus package through reconciliation if necessary.
