सऊदी अरब की धरती पर इस्लाम का जन्म हुआ, इसलिए मक्का और मदीना जैसे पवित्र मुस्लिम तीर्थस्थल उस देश की थाती हैं। मक्का में पवित्र काबा है, जिसकी परिक्रमा कर हर मुसलमान धन्य हो जाता है। यही वह स्थान है जहां हज यात्रा सम्पन्न होती है। इस्लामी तारीख के अनुसार 10 जिलहज को दुनिया के कोने-कोने से मुसलमान इस पवित्र स्थान पर पहुंचते हैं, जिसे "ईदुल अजहा' कहा जाता है।
