‘Desperate’ Lebanon takes to streets as government to seek IMF aid after approving rescue plan

Angry scenes won the streets of Lebanon this week, with riots breaking out in the Northern city of Tripoli, where one protester was killed and dozens of soldiers were injured. The country’s economy is “in free-fall”, Prime Minister Hassan Diab said. But families are now “desperate” as “food prices have doubled in some places and families just cannot bring food home”, FRANCE 24’s Beirut correspondent Leila Molana-Allen reports.
