Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is water with an extra oxygen molecule. Unlike chlorine bleach, it breaks down into oxygen and water and is kind to the environment. For home applications, hydrogen peroxide should be diluted to a three per cent concentration — how it’s usually sold. Store it in a dark bottle out of direct sunlight.

~ To remove pit stains and upholstery stains use mix of one part dawn dish soap and 2 parts hydrogen peroxide and apply to stain. Wash as normal.

~ Whiten grout - 2 parts baking soda 1 part hydrogen peroxide. This same mix also works to whiten your nails!

~ Use it as a mouthwash to kill germs, making sure to dilute first (half water, half hydrogen peroxide), then swish in your mouth for one minute and spit out. Never swallow!

~ Gargling with diluted hydrogen peroxide (1:1) may help a sore throat in several ways. Hydrogen peroxide has antibacterial properties. It can help your body fight off bacterial infections that often cause sore throats

~ Laundry booster - add hydrogen peroxide to your washing machine when doing a load of whites. The hydrogen peroxide will also deodorize clothes and remove stains.

~ hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria, but it also dispatches fungi such as mold and mildew. Spray your bathroom fixtures, floors, walls, humidifier & your shower curtain and the rubber gasket of your front loader!

~ Fruits and veggies also can be spritzed or bathed in a diluted hydrogen peroxide solution to keep them fresher longer. Rinse them thoroughly before eating

~ To clean your toilet, add 1/2 cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to your bathroom bowl to kill germs and brighten the surface of your toilet. Leave it in the bowl for 20 minutes to get the full benefit.

~ Spray a 1:1 solution of water and hydrogen peroxide onto glass surfaces, then wipe clean *note the video I made a mistake and said use only HP (it actually does work this way) , but it's better to dilute!

~ Use hydrogen peroxide to sanitize your toothbrush AND makeup brushes - a 2009 study found that rinsing in hydrogen peroxide reduced the bacterial count by 88 percent!
