Cruising has been suspended until at least mid-May and probably longer. In order for cruising to resume, cruise lines will certainly be required to implement stricter protocols and change policies. In this video, we share our predictions for the future of cruising with the 15 Ways Cruising Could Change Once the Cruise Suspension is Lifted.

We can certainly see the cruise lines being forced to implement more stringent health screenings prior to cruising, along with more rigorous embarkation protocols. This could include restricting cruising for some individuals, at least temporarily.

Certainly, the cruise lines will enhance cleaning procedures and increase the frequency of sanitizing public areas. In addition, it is possible that cruise ships could create crowd control measures. This might include sailing at reduced capacity or limiting the number of individuals in restaurants and entertainment venues. We could see more ships adopting reservation systems that you already find on some mega-ships.

Most likely, cruising will start out slow, with only the most popular ships sailing once the cruise suspension is lifted. Also, there is the potential that this halt will impact the planned release of new ships, as well as ship revitalizations for older vessels. Perhaps, cruise lines could even try to sell off older ships that are less profitable.

We suspect that cruising could further change in the future, including where cruise ships sail, as well as changes to crew contracts.
