While on loan at Oita Trinita, from his then parent club Urawa Reds, Ado Onaiwu racked up 10 J1 League goals during the 2019 season, finishing Oita's top scorer and leaving the newly promoted side in a highly respectable 9th place - coach Tomohiro Katanosaka was even awarded J.League Manager of the Year. Onaiwu's goals eventually convinced champions Yokohama F. Marinos to recruit the striker's services in 2020.
