Benefits Of Riding Motorcycle/Scooter In Between 30-50 Kmph | Bike/Scooter Economy Speed Range
Description
It is not just the speed but your riding manners which affect the fuel economy. Such as, if you rev aggressively everywhere, brake hard very often, etc. you are unlikely to get a good economy. Smooth riding habits are a big factor. It is all about finding a balance between fuel consumed and distance covered. To be the most fuel efficient, you need to cover the maximum distances with the minimum fuel consumed. The motorcycle is consuming fuel even at idle. The more you rev, the more fuel is going to the engine. So logically, to get the maximum fuel economy, you need to ride in the top gear with the minimum revving of the accelerator as you have the maximum speed with the minimum intake of fuel. In India, due to city traffic conditions, it is manageable to maintain 30–50kmph on the roads. The moment you go slower, you have to downshift to a lower gear, then rev more to get to your desired speed to return to the top gear. In highways, you might even get better fuel economy if you ride at a constant speed of 50 - 60 kmph on a 100–125cc motorcycles. It is because at this point although more fuel is going in but you are also covering further distances.
