ELIUD KIPCHOGE VS KENENISA BEKELE || THE 2020 LONDON MARATHON || THE BATTLE OF LEGENDS
Description
This race may actually happen! Since Bekele ran 2:01:41 back in September and Kipchoge ran his sub 2 hour marahton in October, the endless predictions and speculations on "who would win?" between these 2 athletes has been endless. Now, just after Eliud Kipchoge announced he'll be returning to the London Marathon this upcoming April, it seems as though this battle of the titans is happening.
Since 2003 or 2004, both Bekele and Kipchoge have been 2 of the best distance runners in the world. Together, they both combine for well over 20 international world championship and Olympic Medals, plus 15 marathon majors. With their talent and racing history combined together, few rivalries elicit such excitement as these 2.
After Kipchoge's official announcement to run London in 2020, the predictions began. What will Kipchoge run? What will Bekele do? Can they break the course record?
In a brief interview, Kipchoge said that he firmly believes that he can run faster than his current course record, which stands at 2:02:37 seconds.
While the world record will be difficult in London, as racing temperatures usually don't favor the athletes like Berlin in September, Kipchoge certainly seems determined to run under 2:02:30.
