GE2020: SDP questions why report on 10 million population was not refuted when it was published

The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) released a statement on July 3, questioning if Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat had refuted and corrected a 2019 Straits Times report on the 10 million population figure at the time it was published. The statement added that, "if not, he can hardly accuse the SDP of making a false claim now". At a walkabout, SDP secretary-general Chee Soon Juan said the 10 million figure has been floating around. He reiterated that the figure did not originate from his party.
