HIGHLIGHTS: Blue Jackets 5, Canucks 3 | Big third lifts CBJ over VAN
Description
Columbus was chasing the game from the beginning, as Tanner Pearson hit the post in the early going but was slashed by Riley Nash on the play. Vancouver then scored 1:00 into the game on the ensuing power play, as Bo Horvat fired home Elias Pettersson's pass from the slot past Korpisalo.
The Canucks made it 2-0 at 7:08 with a 5-on-5 goal. Vancouver's top line set up shop in the CBJ zone and scored when Tyler Myers fired from the center point and Pettersson was at the side of the net to tip it by Korpisalo.
The CBJ goalie did make an excellent stop on Jake Virtanen moments later, and the Blue Jackets took advantage when Stenlund made it a 2-1 game at 10:01. Nash won a faceoff back to Markus Nutivaara then dug the rebound of the defenseman's shot out of the gear of goalie Louis Domingue, and Stenlund was waiting at the top of the crease to send the pass home.
