Honda has introduced the new Dio in two variants including standard and deluxe and has given it a host of updates to set it apart from the previous version. To start with, the sporty styling of the scooter has become edgier now with a redesigned headlamp, position lamp, and tail lamp along with sharper contours across its bodywork.
It has also been adorned with funkier graphics and a split grab rail at the rear. The new Dio also gets added features such as an ACG silent starter, side stand engine inhibitor, external fuel filler cap, dual-function switch integrating seat and fuel lid opener, front pocket, and a new DC LED headlamp. Interestingly, it also retains the fully-digital instrument cluster with more information such as fuel range, average fuel efficiency, and real-time fuel efficiency.
Now, making it compliant with the new BS6 emissions norms is a reworked 109.19cc engine which now gets Honda’s programmed fuel injection, in place of the previous carbureted set up. Coming to the cycle parts, the 10-inch wheel and trailing-link suspension of the outgoing model have made way for a 12-inch wheel with telescopic forks, similar to the Activa 6G. The rear continues to ride on a 10-inch wheel suspended by a mono-shock. Braking is handled by drum brakes at both ends, assisted by a combined braking system. To give it more stability, Honda has also marginally increased the wheelbase of the Dio.
