Ingredients
• 2 tbsp Warm Water
• 2 tbsp Warm Milk
• 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
• 1 tbsp Dry Yeast
• 1 tsp Salt
• 1 tsp Baking Powder
• 420g/3 Cups All- Purpose Flour
• 240ml/1 Cup Warm Water
• 1 tbsp Melted Butter
• 3 tbsp Olive Oil
Step 1
In a small bowl mix together 2 tbsp warm milk, 2 tbsp water and the yeast. Stir and let it rest for 10 minutes in order for the yeast to activate.
Step 2
In a small bowl, mix together the salt and the baking powder with the flour. In a large bowl add 240ml/1 cup warm water, 1 tbsp melted butter and 2 tbsp olive oil. Add the yeast mixture and stir until well combined. Incorporate the flour in 3 batches. Knead the dough until it has an elastic texture, for about 5 minutes. Add 1 tbsp olive oil and knead it for 1 more minute. Cover with plastic foil and let it rise until doubled in size, for about 1 hour.
Step 3
Transfer the dough on a floured surface and knead it for 2-3 minutes. Cut the dough in 6 equal pieces and roll each piece into an oval. Using your hands, roll each piece to form the hot dog bun. Cover the buns and let them rest for 30 more minutes until doubled in side.
Step 4
Grease each bun with milk and bake them at 200° C for 20 minutes until golden brown on top.
Step 5
Remove the buns from the oven, grease them with melted butter, cover, and let them rest for 5 more minutes. Bon appetit!
