Nobody can deny China’s spectacular economic growth during the latest decades. Nevertheless… how can we trust Beijing macro economical figures? There are lots of countries who lied about their accounting in the past and China, being a dictatorship, has no reason to be honest with their math.

Well… the truth is that Brookings Institute published a study at the beginning of 2019 where they prove China has been lying about their GDP growth an average 2% during the last 10 years. If their estimations are right, the Chinese economy would be 10% smaller than what we believe. Of course, they are still prosperous… but not as much as we thought. But… why would they lie on their GDP? What are the consequences of this for international finances? And the most important of all… What does GDP measure exactly? On this video we will answer to all of those questions.
