KZN educator receives global award for innovative teaching

A teacher from a rural school near Richards Bay in northern KwaZulu-Natal is the talk of the town for his unorthodox, yet effective teaching techniques. Khangelani Sibiya has received two global awards for his innovative teaching of maths and science. His unconventional methods were captured in a video that went viral on social media. Since his arrival, Siphumelele High has improved its pass rate in maths and science from a dismal zero to 23 percent. This year it's hoping for over 60 percent.
