Large Fowl Self Blue Ameraucanas are now an officially recognized variety by the APA due to the approval vote of the APA boardon Jan. 24, 2020.
The lavender gene (LAV) breeds true, so a lavender chicken bred to a lavender chicken will produce only lavender chicks.
The Ameraucana is an American breed of domestic chicken. It was developed in the United States in the 1970s, and derives from Araucana chickens brought from Chile.
Ameraucanas have a very distinct appearance. They always have muffs and beards which should nearly cover their face completely. They come in other colors of black, blue, wheaten, blue wheaten, brown red, buff, silver, and white, according to the APA recognized standard.
