The list of most popular baby names is out. (IPGGutenbergUKLtd/Getty Images/iStockphoto) For the first time, Muhammad is on a list of the top 10 names for baby boys in the United States, according to parenting website BabyCenter.  The name has climbed steadily in recent BabyCenter rankings and closes out this year’s top 10 list. Advertisement  “Muslim families often choose Muhammad for firstborn sons to honor the prophet and bring blessings to the child,” Linda Murray, BabyCenter’s global editor in chief, said in a news release. “The name also has multiple spellings, and that helps a name get into the top 10.”  The Social Security Administration, which also ranks baby names, does not account for varied spellings. Muhammad ranked 345th in 2018, according to the SSA. For baby girls, Sophia was number one for the 10th year in a row. Isla was the fastest-rising name and Eleanor and Miles were tied for second-fastest climbing names. The most popular names for boys are: Liam, Jackson, Noah, Aiden, Grayson, Caden, Lucas, Elijah, Oliver and Muhammad.  The most popular names for baby girls are: Sophia, Olivia, Emma, Ava, Aria, Isabella, Amelia, Mia, Riley and Aliyah.  See how your name, or your baby’s name, cracked the top 100 here.
