My BF's Father is a GANGSTER
Description
Hi! I’m Chloe. I tried to maintain a long distance relationship with my boyfriend and I discovered something that shocked me to my bones. And before you get ahead, it had nothing to do with cheating. But it did involve lies. Huge lies.
Ethan Smith was my first real boyfriend. Even though we went to different schools and he was a year older, we were both Seniors when we met. He told me he was relegated a year because his father had a job in the automobile industry that made them relocate a lot and once he couldn’t complete a school year. That turned out to be false, but I’ll explain in a couple of minutes.
We met at the gym. How romantic. I was misusing one of the Hammer Strength machine and he came to aid me. I had seemed him before, though we never talked. We immediately hit it off and we started meeting almost everyday to train together. After a couple of weeks he asked me out and I said yes. From that point on we kept dating and training together. We spent a lot of time with each other and it always felt fresh and fun.
I fell in love with him. Deeply. The relationship became a serious one. We introduced each other’s friends, families and lifestyles. He had only a couple of friends and they were a bit crazy, rich kids. I loved how Ethan got along with mine. He made everyone of my friends laugh and had a good time, and I could see how he had a nice time with them too.
Ethan was respectful and friendly with my family, especially with my little sister. However, he turned very reserved when my parents asked him about his family. He tried to avoid the subject as much as possible and made vague comments about the auto industry. I confronted him about it and he told me that his relationship with his family was a bit difficult and hard to talk about, so I didn’t pressure for more information.
When I met Ethan’s parents, I was surprised about how cool they were! His dad joked around a lot and made awesome barbecues. His mom dressed beautifully and always made me nice compliments. I couldn’t really understand how Ethan kind of resented them. I still didn’t pressure.
We both graduated and started college. He enrolled in Business Administration and I did in Chemistry. But he dropped out after the first semester because he suddenly wanted to study abroad. “I want to experience a new culture”, he said. It was a harsh revelation and hard to believe, however I accepted it.
He went away soon after and we tried to maintain a long distance relationship. I was considering a transfer to his college. They had a cool Chemistry programm and we could still be together.
After three months, I visited him by surprised. I tried to look for him in his new college and I found out he wasn’t even enrolled there. I froze. “This can’t be happening. Where the hell is he?”
I thought about hundreds of reasons why he would tell me such a big lie and I couldn’t find one convincing enough. I tried to think then where could I find him. Perhaps I didn’t have his real address either. I was in a new country, alone and scared. Then I remembered a picture he sent me where I could see a laundry behind him. “Got it!” I found the laundry after about an hour and went in just to check. Ethan was not there, so I got out and was about to head back to my Airbnb when I saw him at the back entrance.
He was there with his father, both of them carrying bags to a car. “Ethan!”, I shouted and boy was he surprised. He saw me, turned super nervous and dropped one of the bags. All of the sudden, there was a pack of 100$ bill on the floor. I’ve never seen him so scared. I was confused. His dad saw what happened and gave a disappointed, angry look at both me and Ethan.
His dad was about to pull something from this coat and Ethan punched him before he could take it out. A gun fell to the floor. Ethan grabbed the gun, pointed it at his father and asked for the car keys. He drove towards me and demanded that I got in. Oh my God, I was so scared, but I had to get in. So I did.
Ethan was sweating a lot while driving and I was crying for an explanation. He told me everything. Turns out, his dad was a mobster and they had to flee the country to avoid getting caught because of some wrong doings. I was too afraid to ask what was the real “family business”.
He left me in the train station and told me to leave somewhere else and lay low before I went back home. I….did.
Ethan was his real name, yet he was no Smith, as I found out when I went to the police back home. He fled that night, I really have no idea where. He protected me and I’m thankful for it. But at the same time, I feel like he betray me.
His lies put me in jeopardy. I hope justices gets served...
