Prime Time, March 09, 2020 | High Court Lambasts UP Government Over Hoardings Of Anti-CAA Protesters
Description
The Allahabad High Court rapped the Yogi Adityanath government over posters in Lucknow with photographs and personal details of people who participated in the anti-Citizenship Act protests. Citing the Right to Privacy as a fundamental human right recognised by the United Nations as well as the Supreme Court, the judges said the government's move to display photographs and personal details of the accused on roadside hoardings was "an unwarranted interference in privacy". Speaking to NDTV, former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer SR Darapuri, whose picture has been put up on display on banners said that it amounts to "defamation" and infringes on their right to life and liberty.
