Ramaphosa outlines priorities for his term as AU chair
Description
President Cyril Ramaphosa has taken over the chairmanship of the African Union from Egypt's Abdel Fattah el Sisi with a warning that the continent must deal with countries outside of Africa fighting proxy wars and fuelling conflicts on the continent. Addressing Heads of state at this year's African Union Summit, Ramaphosa announced that South Africa will host a special summit on Silencing the Guns in May this year, with the aim of coming up with concrete solutions to Africa's long-running conflicts. He laid out his top three priorities during his term include conflict resolution, gender equality and climate change. Sarah Kimani joins us from Addis Ababa for an update.
