SC grants 10 years to telecom firms to clear AGR dues
Description
A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra allowed the pleas of telecom companies to deposit the amount in installments and granted time till 2031 to clear the dues. While the Centre wanted the court to give 20 years time but the court gave only ten years time to the telecom companies. The court said that the telecom companies will have to pay 10 per cent of their dues by the end of the current financial year. Some telecom companies, especially Vodafone Idea, would have been in big trouble if the court hadn't allowed them time for payment of AGR dues.
