School Closes After Student Tests Positive for Coronavirus

The Renton School District learned a student from Hazen High School tested positive for coronavirus Tuesday night, prompting officials to close the school for the rest of the week.

The district posted to its website Tuesday detailing plans to close Hazen High School through March 6. Public Health - Seattle & King County recommended closing Hazen High School for the remainder of the week while authorities determined who came in contact with the ill student.

Then, The Federal Reserve caught everyone off guard Tuesday in announcing its first emergency interest rate cut since the recession of 2008. It's also the biggest- a half percent- and the coronavirus is a major factor.

Also, As more COVID-19 cases come out of the Life Care Center of Kirkland, some neighbors who live in the apartment complex adjacent to the center are concerned the virus will make its way into their neighborhood.

Lastly, Public health authorities are recommending people take precautions to keep themselves safe from illness--avoiding large group gatherings and working from home. Some people are already noticing a difference. Some are even going so far to say that “Seattle is like a ghost town now.”
