Olof Palme, a leader of Sweden's Social Democratic Party, became Prime Minister in 1969. Olof Palme was killed in the late evening of February 28, 1986. Olof Palme and his wife Lisbet were walking home through one of Stockholm's busiest streets, Sveavägen, when a man in a dark overcoat shot him.
