The rating shows the top 10 countries in the world by gold and foreign exchange reserves from 1951 to 2020. The graph clearly shows how the gold reserves of countries have changed over the course of seventy years.

1. The United States is the undisputed leader in gold reserves worldwide. At the beginning of 2020, the country's vaults contained a huge amount of pure gold - 8,133. 46 tons or 77% of the us currency reserve.

2.Germany is the main leader among European countries. At the beginning of 2020, it had national reserves of gold in the amount of 3366.5 tons, which is 73.5% of the total foreign exchange reserve of this country.

3. Italy-ranks 2nd in Europe in terms of national gold reserves - 2451.84 tons (January 2020). This is 68.3 per cent of all foreign exchange reserves of the Italians. It is worth noting that Italy's gold reserves have remained stable for more than 20 years, since 1999.

4. France-ranks 3rd in Europe in terms of state reserves of gold - 2436 tons (January 2020). This is 63.2% of all French foreign exchange reserves.

5. Russia is the leader among the CIS countries. In 2019, Russia increased its gold reserves by 158.2 tons. At the beginning of 2020, the amount of gold in the country's vaults was 19.9% of its foreign exchange reserves. The Central Bank of Russia annually increases its gold reserves, which in January 2020 amounted to 2271.2 tons. Today, Russia ranks 5th in the world in terms of gold reserves (until January 2018-6th place).

6.China is the leader among East Asian countries. At the time of January 2020, the national gold reserves of the" middle Kingdom " amounted to 1948.3 tons, which is only 2.9% of its huge foreign exchange reserves. The volume of China's foreign exchange reserves at the end of 2019 amounted to $3.360 trillion.

7. Switzerland-ranks 1st in the world in terms of the amount of gold per inhabitant of the country-136.5 grams. National reserves of gold - 1040 tons (in January 2020) or 6.0% of the total foreign exchange reserves of this small but very rich state.

9. India is ranked 9th. In the vaults of the Central Bank of India is-633.1 tons of pure gold (January 2020). This is 6.8% of all India's foreign exchange reserves.

10. The Netherlands has national reserves of gold in the amount of 612.45 tons (in January 2020), or 69.5% of the country's foreign exchange reserves. In 2019, the Netherlands ranked 9th in the world for gold reserves, ahead of India.
