10 Remarkable Kids in the World of Sports
President John F. Kennedy wasn’t wrong when he said children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future. It seems these words are catching up with us as child prodigies are blossoming around the globe faster than expected. These young individuals are lighting up scoreboards across the globe and shattering expectations one highlight reel at a time. One of them is this Kid who Runs So Fast, People Are Calling Him the Fastest Child in the World!!!!
10. Coco Cori Gauff, Tennis

Well, we all have talents but some actually go the extra mile to work on those talents. Cori "Coco" Gauff, who is now a talented American tennis player claiming the 49th spot in the top 100 Women's Tennis Association (WTA); first started playing tennis at the age of six. She wasn’t considered very good at first, but although homeschooled she was able to attend tennis summer camp, and even won the “Little Mo” nationals when she was eight years old!! This is also where she first met Serena Williams, her tennis idol.
Being on the 49th spot on the Women’s Tennis Association top 100 makes her the youngest in that list since 2004. Also on her title are two WTA doubles titles with compatriot and fellow teenager Caty McNally. Apart from Tennis, it seems Coco Gauff had the passion to get skilled at an early age because she proudly shares how she was able to start driving at just 13 years of age!! What’s striking about her tennis career is her first single title which she won not so long ago. Let’s not forget how she stunned five-time champion, Venus Williams, in the first round of Wimbledon - and then astounded the public by taking all the hype in her stride!!! At just 16, Gauff has already won her first tour-level singles title, knocked defending champion Naomi Osaka out of the Australian Open, broken into the top 50!

9. Sam Gordon, American Football

When we first heard of the name “Sam Gordon” it was probably in a video that went viral of a young girl, Full name Samantha, with a bouncing ponytail embarrassing young boys on a football field. Back in 2012, her father uploaded the video on Youtube on a Thursday which by the weekend had garnered over 5 million views!!! She wasn’t technically doing anything wrong but instead slicing her way through an offensive line and dicing her way through the opposing defense during a football match. Due to this, she became an instant hit and had television appearances on several shows which rose to her fame since she was only 9 years old when this video was taken! At just 9 years this star was schooling boys her age on the way to the end zone and then to the spotlight as a booster for girls’ athletic participation, especially in football!!!
Entering her freshman year of high school, Gordon’s football dream almost got shattered since her high school didn’t have a football team. Now, Gordon has several Utah school districts, along with the state’s high school sports governing body, playing defense over their refusal to offer girls’ tackle football as an intramural or varsity sport. What a champ!
8. Ashima Shiraishi, Climbing

Ashima Shiraishi aka “spider girl” is a rising sports legend to a renowned author. At just 14 years old, she became the first female and the youngest in history to complete a V15 grade climb (the second hardest difficulty level for outdoor rock climbing) in 2016. Her achievements caught the recognition of Alex Honnold, record-breaking free solo-er and perhaps the most celebrated rock climber in the world, who describes her as one of the best rock climbers unmatched! This American rock climber started climbing at the age of six at Rat Rock in Central Park, joining her father. It was only after a few years when she established herself as one of the top boulderers and sport climbers in the world!!!
Many publications have featured her and even given her some nicknames like "bouldering phenom" and "young crusher". The most hilarious of them all was when The New Yorker called her "a Gretzky of the granite". Shiraishi has featured in several short documentary-style films and her book ‘How to Solve a Problem’ is as much a book about climbing as it is a mantra to prepare kids for a life of trials, tribulations, and triumphs. Her opening lines are bound to give you some chills! It reads, “I am Ashima. What I do is climb. What I do is solve problems, which is to say, I make them mine.”
7. Kira Makogonenko, Boxing
