Life expectancy at birth compares the average number of years to be lived by a group of people born in the same year, if mortality at each age remains constant in the future. Life expectancy at birth is also a measure of overall quality of life in a country and summarizes the mortality at all ages.
As of 2015-2020, Hong Kong has highest life expectancy at 84.63 years. Top three positions are occupied by Asian nations as Japan and Macao SAR is at 2nd and 3rd position, resp. These three have life expectancies above 84 years.
38 countries/regions have life expectancy above 80 years, 51 have between 75-80 years, 49 have between 70-75 years.
13 countries/regions have life expectancy below 60 years. Central African Republic has lowest life expectancy at 52.67 years. The worst life expectancies are found in Africa as 28 lowest ranked countries are located in Africa.
Everywhere in the world women live longer than men. Life expectancies for male are between 50.40 to 81.75 years, while for female these fig range from 54.85 to 87.53 years. Difference is maximun in Syria where women avg life is 11.80 years than men. Next in line come Lithuania, Russian Federation and Belarus having discrepancy greater than 10 years. Bhutan has minimum difference of 0.66 years.

According to a study led by the University of Navarra Medical School, this diet “supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil or nuts, had a lower rate of major cardiovascular events than those assigned to a reduced-fat diet”.
