TOP 10 Fake Millionaires Who Were Discovered
Social media has exposed us to a string of lies where people flaunt that they're millionaires; but in reality they’re not.
In fact, some of these influencers and social media personalities don’t even have a dime in their bank account!
The problem is that they fool so many of us into believing they do by flashing houses, watches, clothes and getaway experiences.
In reality, they either rented out these luxury items or were paid for by a sponsor or brand.
With that being said, let’s take a look at 10 fake millionaires who got caught red-handed flossing more than what they have!
10. Sam Cook
Is it true that money makes you act differently? Well, in the case of Sam Cook, it certainly seems so!
People will do anything to get their hands on money.
And we mean anything…
This is exactly what this teenage fraudster devised when he decided to finesse a number of his investors with exorbitant claims that he had grown £2000 into a £21 million fortune.
In fact, his investors were so impressed with him that he even won an interview with a popular local British newspaper in the United Kingdom.
Little did they know that this was far from the truth.
It turned out that the flashy lifestyle he was living was a scam. For starters, he was driving a fake Ferrari, which he loved to boast to investors that he had purchased after making a fortune on the stock market!
In the end, Sam ended up swindling his investors a jaw-dropping £100,000 which he used to showcase to them all the opulence that would make them think he was legit.
Once investigators dug into Sam’s suspicious dealings, they found out that the so-called ferrari he loved to drive around town was actually a Ford Cougar. The car has now been written off after Sam’s father was involved in a car-crash with it.
Moreover, investigators also discovered that the self-proclaimed millionaire only had £25, 516 in his bank account by the time they caught up to him!
Turns out Sam had blown his small fortune on posh holidays and living a luxurious lifestyle!
Ironically, when Sam was arraigned in court, he was told to refund only £26,000 of the £100,000 he had swindled from the investors!
9. Ja Rule
Since the late 2010s, there have been rumours that the once-famous rapper Ja Rule had gone completely broke.
But it was not until 2017 that Ja Rule’s name was dragged into one of the most controversial scams in the music and entertainment fraternity.
This was the Fyre festival scam. And even though Ja Rule’s lawyers did manage to clear his name, it’s crystal clear that the rapper doesn’t have the same allure, respect, and wealth he did in the early 2000s.
According to the scam, ticket holders were finessed with empty promises of spending an entire weekend partying on a private island with some of the most prominent influencers and celebrities in the world.
That was not to be!
Once they got to the so-called exotic island, they found out that it was a rain-soaked disaster of bad food, pathetic tents, and horrendous transportation facilities.
And don’t forget that some of the high-value tickets for the festival were going for as high as $75,000.
But this is not the rapper’s first issue with money problems.
He has also been exposed several times flossing fake money and chains on his Instagram; a lifestyle that he now cannot afford.
Strangely enough, a number of online websites have claimed that the rapper currently has a net worth of $8 million; but the sources close to him say that the rapper is currently riddled in debt.
8.Jonny Mitchel
Social media is a very intoxicating drug. And if it lands in the wrong hands, it can be used to dupe the masses in quite appalling ways.
One of them is by flashing a lifestyle that doesn’t exist.
And this is exactly what Jonny Mitchel did. For those who don’t know who Jonny Mitchell is, we implore you to tune into the earlier seasons of Love Island.
Ahh, yes, he was one of the contestants on the show!
And from the get-go, Jonny wanted to let fans know that he was one of the only millionaires on the show. He did this by posting pictures of himself on Instagram with luxurious toys and living the high-life.
But fans weren’t buying it.
The Instagram police decided to take a closer look at his photos. It turns out that all the luxury cars, the first-class travel, and the fancy suit were nothing but a big scam.
For instance, he loved to take photos in a Mercedes Benz that he allegedly bought. But it turns out that the Benz actually belonged to his father!
