Video Transcript:
For our last day of Earth Week, I want to encourage everybody to think about ways to live more sustainably with the Earth.
To give you a little bit of inspiration, I've invited the rest of the Southeast team to share their tips for sustainable living with you.
I recommend getting a programmable thermostat. This way, you can set the temperature for when you're in the home or away, you're not wasting money or resources heating up or cooling your home when no one's around.
I suggest investing in a wind and solar-powered clothes dryer. It'll save energy, money, and you'll get really good at predicting the weather.
My sustainability tip is grow your own food. You don't actually need a big yard to do this because there are lots of foods like lettuces, beans, herbs, and, tomatoes that'll grow really well in a pot on your patio or balcony.
Plants are not only good for you but they're good for wildlife. You can make a sizeable difference for imperiled species by reducing meat consumption.
I love composting. It saves space in landfills and you can put it right back out in your garden.
In celebration of Earth Day, I planted this oak leaf hydrangea in my yard, which is native to North Florida.
The next time you clean out a closet, you can help other people, wildlife, and the environment. Clothing and other items can be used again, which keeps them out of landfills.
Remember to bring your reusable produce and grocery bags with you when you go to the grocery store. By using products like these, you will help to reduce unnecessary plastic waste that harms both wildlife and the environment as a whole.
House cats can be extremely detrimental to your local ecosystem so I always keep mine indoors or on a leash.
There are many ways that we can conserve precious fresh water. Use an app to monitor household consumption. Turn off the shower except to soak your shampoo and turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth or lathering your hands.
Well there you have it! What tips do you have for sustainable living?
Feel free to share them below in the comment section and thank you for being a Defender.
