Honesty, LifeProof should stop making this product. The LifeProof Next does NOT make any sense.

Don't get this case. Here's 10 better ones: https://youtu.be/rsNG5HF_RYc

At MREH, Monty and I base all our reviews on actual usage by buying subpar cases from brands that use to be great. That’s too harsh.

Monty and I base all our reviews on actual usage by wasting our money on really bad cases so that you don’t have to. That’s a little better.

There’s a nostalgic part of me that really likes LifeProof because they’re one of the first brands that I reviewed back in 2012.

Honestly, I get asked alot about waterproof cases and the LifeProof Fre, despite being an average waterproof case is going to get the job done when it comes to going on vacation. The Slam has improved over the years but this Next. WHY???

The LifeProof Next hasn’t really changed since release. I personally think LifeProof at the time was trying to find a product replacement for the Nuud and came up with the Next.

The NEXT is a two piece case that comes apart through the use of a coin. Or a really beefy fingernail. Please don’t use your fingernail, use a coin. LifeProof use to include a little doohickey to pry stuff apart on their cases but that’s the case anymore.

The fit of the case is problematic as squeezing there is a lot of give which doesn’t give you a lot of confidence when it comes to protecting your iPhone. I will note that the iPhone does sit on a thin layer of TPU which provides a bit of shock protection during a drop.

The case slides around easily on BOTH the front and back, which isn’t something I haven’t said in a while. It is just so slick…

The back will shows scratches and face grease easily THOUGH during this time of COVID-19 lockdown, face grease shouldn’t be a problem because you shouldn’t be touching your face right?

Also, the front will show scratches as well because it’s just PC. The only saving grace when it comes to the design of the case is that the edge has a bit of TPU so it’s not a total wet bar of soap type fail.

Now if you thought the design was bad, well, the functionality of the iPhone is worse. These buttons on this case are terrible. Downright horrible. It takes SO much effort to access your iPhone’s three buttons in this case. The mute switch is also just as terrible. It’s tiny and hard to use.

Using the Next on your iPhone is like buying a new car and Tuck-taping the doors shut. What’s the point of a case that isn’t going to allow you to use your iPhone at all? And the kicker for all of this? IS THAT IT’S AN 80 dollar case.

I paid 80 dollars this...fck me.

When it comes to protection, the LifeProof Next fares a little better. BUT here’s why this case doesn’t make any sense anymore. When it come out for the iPhone 7’s, the device wasn’t iP67 rated. So it made sense to have a product that provided additional protection against the elements. BUT now that the iPhone’s are waterproof, do you really need films protecting the speaker cutouts and a plug port?

The case is supposedly drop rated to 2.2m or 6ft but here’s a neat little feature, this two piece case comes apart after a few drops...so.

80 dollars.
