Is the updated design any GOOD? LifeProof Slam review for the iPhone 11, 11 Pro/Max
Description
So LifeProof has updated the Slam since the last time I reviewed it. The old version was terrible. The new version isn’t as terrible. BUT I’m not sure when I would recommend this case to. I think the only time I’d recommend this case would be to someone I don’t like.
Here are 10 cases that are MUCH better: https://mreh.ca/2okkKZ0

For example, Lifeproof’s parent company, managed to slim down the Symmetry a good bit last year BUT with the Slam, LifeProof went from a relatively slim case to something pretty bulky.
BUT with that being said, at least it works as a case, something that I have a hard time saying about the previous version.
The new-ish LifeProof Slam is now a single piece case instead of one that snaps together. The Slam fits way better than the Next and the rubbery edges improves the handling of the device a bit. The case would handle much better if the back edge had a bit of texture to it.
The case doesn’t slide around easily on the front but could be used as a pseudo-bowling ball for beer cans if you’re bored during your coronavirus isolation.
The back of the case is recessed a bit so using it as pseudo-bowling ball won’t scratch it up completely but it will show wear and tear over time. The back is pure PC and doesn’t have the rubberized coating that I really like on the Mous Clarity.
When it comes to using your iPHone in the case, I generally didn’t have any issues with the Slam. The buttons are removable which is reminiscent of the redesigned Symmetry’s from last year. In fact, the buttons on the Slam are exactly the same as Symmetry’s.
The edges of the case aren’t that noticeable as thick edge tapers nicely into the screen.
There are no issues with the camera access or the Port.
When it comes to protection, the slam is suppose to protect your iPhone from 2 meter or 6.6ft. The case edges are quite rigidi so dust and debris isn’t going to get in too easily and the edges of the case are high enough to keep an iPhone’s screen off a flat surface, even with a screen protector.
Given the bulk of the case, I’d have to agree that it would. More so than the Ringke Fusion case I last reviewed which is a fraction of the thickness.
