Better Call Saul has returned for the third episode of its penultimate season 5. We pick up with Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) who are both dealing with difficult clients and situations at work. Kim has to put her pro bono work aside to help Mesa Verde at a remote location. She meets Mr. Acker (Barry Corbin) who refuses to leave his home. After a long exchange where we learn more about her childhood she tries her best to make things right only to have Mr. Acker put her down.

In episode 3 Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) and Nacho Varga (Michael Mando) meet with Saul Goodman. Lalo has a plan to deal with Krazy-8 who was arrested in episode 2. Lalo wants Jimmy to give Krazy-8 instructions and it leads to him working for the Salamanca family. The plan involves giving the DEA information about Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) and his operation. This brings Jimmy and his client in contact with Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) and Steve Gomez (Steven Michael Quezada) from Breaking Bad. Hank and Gomie make a conditional deal with Domingo.

Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathon Banks) is off on his own drinking. We see him get in a fight with some local tough guys who try to rob in episode 3.

In the season 5 episode 3 teaser we see that Saul’s ice cream cone he left behind at the end of the last episode is slowly eaten up by ants. The ants carrying away the ice cream feels similar to Jimmy losing himself as he starts to work with criminals.

This video for 503 “The Guy for This” explains the ending of episode 3 and what it means for the upcoming season. Jimmy is now practicing law as Saul working for the Salamancas and Kim still hasn’t accepted his decision.

Better Call Saul is a television drama series created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It is a spin-off prequel of Gilligan's prior series Breaking Bad. Set in the early 2000s, Better Call Saul follows the story of con-man turned small-time lawyer, Jimmy McGill, beginning six years before the events of Breaking Bad, showing his transformation into the persona of criminal-for-hire Saul Goodman. Jimmy becomes the lawyer for former beat cop Mike Ehrmantraut, whose relevant skill set allows him to enter the criminal underworld of drug trafficking in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The show premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015. The show's fifth season premiered on February 23, 2020, and a sixth and final season is slated to air in 2021.
